Confused about the three types of security keys? Yes, they can give you doubts about when and where to use them at the beginning. However, the good news is, these keys are there to get the job done when you face security-related problems.
Here, we have summarized everything you need to know about the security keys associated with your Namezage account. Let’s identify the three types of security keys;
When you create your account/wallet in Namezage, you will be provided with two security keys, which are the Public Key and the Private Key. zKey will be provided to you only upon your request from MetaZ, the domain provider.
The Public Key is an auto-generated key assigned to your wallet for identification. It is provided by Namezage to distinguish your wallet from other users. Usually, the Public Key is an alphanumeric term with 30+ characters.
For example : 767VHGfyt67hgGFHGryfhvHGVhgfyy57t
When you create your account/wallet in Namezage, you will be provided with two security keys, which are the Public Key and the Private Key. zKey will be provided to you only upon your request from MetaZ, the domain provider.
The Public key is a unique ID that separates you from other Metaverse domain owners. When you have metaverse domains in your ownership, they are stored in your wallet under this ID.
So, Namezage uses the Public Key to distinguish the metaverse domains under your ownership. Other than that, you can use the Public Key to show off your domain collection.
At this stage of development, you are not yet provided with the privilege to use the Public Key to list your domains outside of Namezage.
Of course, you can share your Public Key with anyone you wish.
Public Key does not provide any of your personal information or sensitive data. If you share your Public Key with others, it allows them to see the Metaverse domains list you own under that key.
The Private Key is another auto-generated key assigned to your wallet. It is assigned to your wallet as a wallet ID for security purposes by Namezage. You can find it as an alphanumeric key with 10 characters.
For example : mO87c4LtEg
Go to your Namezage wallet and select the “Security Keys'' option in the left menu. There you will see the “Show Key'' option to get your Private Key.
As mentioned, Private Key is there only for security purposes. You can use your Private Key to reset your Namezage wallet password. In case of a password loss, you can also recover your wallet using the private key.
Other than that, Private Key is necessary for verifications during these types of scenarios.
Unlike the Public Key, you should not share your Private Key with anyone or anywhere. Just as the name suggests, you must keep it private.
If you accidentally or unwillingly shared your Private Key with someone else, it is advisable to create a new wallet and transfer your domains to the new one for better security.
zKey is different from other security keys. Because it is not assigned or generated by Namezage. It is a unique alphanumeric user ID provided by the Metaverse domain provider, MetaZ, only upon your request.
zKey provides the next level of security for your Metaverse domains. If you face unfortunate scenarios that can affect your Metaverse domain ownership such as hacking, zKey is your savior.
After creating your Namezage wallet, there you can see the option for “Ownership Verification” in the left menu.
You can verify your account using your NIC, driving license, or passport. After you verified the details, your KYC information will be minted into the MetaZ private blockchain along with your domain ownership data.
You will receive your zKey at the end of the verifying process and also via email.
zKey is provided by MetaZ to protect your information and domains from third parties. So, you must keep it private without sharing it anywhere else.
Sharing it somewhere else can put your wallet and domains at risk. If you suspect someone else has your zKey, contact Namezage support for assistance as soon as possible. .
